Hospital Advocacy Volunteer Program

This program includes comprehensive training on domestic violence and sexual assault which prepares individuals to respond to calls from our three hospitals (Rush-Copley, Provena Mercy, and Delnor). Advocates inform and empower victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence by providing information and options. The 60-hour trainings are held throughout the year.

For more information, call 630-897-0084, ext. 120

When victims of domestic violence and sexual assault find themselves in the hospital emergency room, they are nervous, traumatized from the assault, scared and unsure about what happens next. They are worried about their own safety and that of their children.  Every time such a victim comes to the hospital, Mutual Ground is notified and sends out an advocate to provide support, information and options.  Before a volunteer can go respond to a hospital call, she must have completed the training.
